Description:
Panela is considered the most natural sugar since its artisanal treatment does not involve any refining or chemical process, making it the richest sugar in vitamins and minerals.
It is called "panela" because it resembles the baking process: cane juice is extracted from the more mature canes. This liquid is allowed to evaporate, and the crystal (panela glass) is taken as raw material that is then scratched and converted into sugar grains to make it easier to dose.
In addition to organic this sugar comes from the fair trade of the Maquita Foundation that is an organization of social and solidarity economy that promotes the associativity and the sustainable production to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable families of Ecuador.
