Gunpowder green tea is one of the best known Chinese teas, which keeps all the diuretic and antioxidant qualities of green teas, but with an original shape of leaves rolled into small balls, similar to the gunpowder shots they used in the cannons, hence the name "gunpowder" or zhu chá in Chinese.
This in particular is worked by the farmers of the Da Zhang Shan Organic Farmers Association, the first to be certified as Fairtrade in China.
After two decades working certified teas in the provinces of Jiangxi and Guangxi have greatly improved the condition of farmers and the techniques used to get year after year the best harvest with the least environmental impact.
